Dear Parents, Education; teaching kids, nurturing them, skill them, preparing them for better tomorrow is a rigorous and experimental job, there is no best or single way to perform, It is completely based of trial and error. As a school, we make our vision and this leads us to hit trials and rectify errors to be on the same page. In this connection, Uma Devi Children s Academy has decided to enrich their kids with skills rather than knowledge so we promote kids to understand problems / chapters rather than learning and cramming them undoubtedly this helps school and kids a lot to grow in better way, It led students to write in creative way, It helped students to find different and creative answers, it helped students to think out of the box. But no way is perfect, now we are encountering few issues like; memorizing: Students are not ready to memories even the facts in G.K., Memorizing is also an important skill in later stage students will have to memories multiple facts and big names biology. Handwriting, Construction and Spellings: Since we had started allotting marks seeing appropriate content rather than seeing better sentence construction, spelling errors and handwriting, pooped up result is students have stopped working on them. Retention: Understanding increased, student became creative but retention decreased; they are best at answers immediately, better after some time and even good after a couple of months but we need best at all the times. Seeing above problems school is introducing Knowledge based questions and going to supply standard answers for few questions from every block. Change is Exams: Now for all the xseed subjects except Maths every half yearly and annual exam shall have two papers on the same day; one Xseed paper (Skill based for 60 marks) like earlier, making scheme shall be the same as earlier and one knowledge based question paper (40 marks) which shall be based on the answers supplied by school, this copy shall not be even checked if handwriting is poor, every answer has to be copied in the same way including comma and full stop. Marks for Handwriting, retention, Spellings and punctuation are to be deducted. Even in the case students write correct answer but changes the actual answers supplied by school shall be given 0 marks. Knowledge based question bank shall be supplied very soon to every kid and would be uploaded on website as well, It would have few question answers from each covering block except eliminated / project blocks and math subject, School needs your support in the way to build kid as perfect learner. For further inquiry or any details please call Mr. Naveen Mishra, Riyasat Ali, Co-ordinator , Thanks Knowledge Based Question Bank Class-3 (Page-2)

English CHAPTER - 6 Q1. Why did the Emperor decide to send someone else? Answer: Emperor did not want to come across as a stupid person. So, for safety sake he wanted to send someone else to the weavers first so that it can be proved that they can see the cloth. Q2. Was the Emperor worried that he may not be able to see the cloth? How can you say that? Answer: Yes, the Emperor was worried that he might not be able to see the cloth. So, he decided to send someone else before he went to the weavers to look at the cloth. He did not want to come across as a stupid person. Q3. Why do you think the old minister lied? Answer: The old minister could not see the cloth. He knew that if he would tell the Emperor that he wasn t able to see the cloth, the Emperor might think that the old minister was stupid and was unfit to be in the office of the Emperor. So, to save himself from being accused of stupidity, the old minister lied. Q4. What did the crooks ask for? Answer: The crooks asked for more money, silk and gold thread so that they could continue with the weaving of the cloth. but no cloth went into the looms. Q5. Do you think that this is the story that a King is not always as intelligent as he is ought to be? Give reasons. Answer: Yes, this story shows that a King is not always as intelligent as he is ought to be. In this story, the King is being duped by the crooks and he is robbed of money as well as he is declared stupid in front of the whole town. The crooks took advantage of the fact that the King loved to wear new clothes. Hence they said that they would make new clothes but at the same point of time they said that a stupid person can t see the cloth and he won t be fit for the King s office. Due to this, every minister and even the King lied that they were able to see cloth when in reality there was no cloth. CHAPTER 7 Q6. Benjy was happy that for the first time his family was pleased with him for doing things on himself. Q8. This story teaches that no matter how good you feel, you must always tell the truth. Explain. Answer- Yes, this story teaches us that we should always speak the truth. Benjy s family was very excited to see him swimming on his own. They thought that it was very brave of Benjy. Even though they were wrong, still Benjy decided to be honest and told them the truth that he wasn t being honest but he was just trying to save his ball. CHAPTER 8 Q9. Do you think the King was right in believing that Tenali would win the competition? Why/Why not? Knowledge Based Question Bank Class-3 (Page-5)

Answer: Yes, the King was right in believing that only Tenali Raman could win the contest. Time again and again Tenali Raman with his wit and intelligence solved many problems and gave solutions to the things that were not only difficult but also impossible to solve. Hence, the King believed that if anybody could win the debate it was none other than Tenali Raman himself. Q10. Tenali Raman had earned the bag of gold. Give reasons. Answer: Tenali Raman proved that it is not only important to be intelligent but using that intelligence at the time of the need is very important too. Tenali Raman used his intelligence at the right time and saved everyone from any kind of embarrassment. Hence, he deserved that bag of gold that he had rightfully earned. Q11. What description about the book did Tenali give to the King? Answer: Tenali told the King that inside the bundle there were til that is known as Thila in Sanskrit and sheep dung is known as Kashtha. He further said that the contents were bound by a rope that is made of buffalo skin and was called Mahisha and Bandhanam meant tying. Q12. The King laughed after hearing Tenali s plan. Does that mean King supported Tenali in his lie? Why/why not? Answer: The King laughed because Tenali was able to overcome such a difficult situation with humour. The King and the kingdom were in grave danger. All the ministers had denied participating in the debate with the arrogant visitor. Even Tenali had no other option but to lie and save the King from further embarrassment. Hence, the King laughed when he heard Tenali Raman s plan. Q13. All Troll thought was about herself. Give reasons. CHAPTER 9 Answer: Troll had taken the bridge as her own property. Troll had maintained that whosoever had passed over the bridge, belonged to Troll. She used to eat everyone who used the bridge to go over to the other side of the mountain. So, yes all Troll did think about was herself and no one else. She just wanted to eat the goats. Q14. The goat didn t want Troll to hurt him, but he gladly offered Troll the second goat. Was the first goat selfish? Give reasons. Answer: No, the goat wasn t selfish. They all had devised a plan in which they would do everything in their power so that Troll doesn t end up eating them. Hence, the first goat decided to offer his brother so that Troll let him go. It was all the part of the plan in which Troll would let go of all the goats and everyone would reach to the other part of the mountain safely. Q15. Were the goats really concerned about each other? How can you tell? Answer- The goats decided that the youngest of them i.e. the little goat would go to the mountain first as he was not able to eat grass fast. Hence the brothers wanted to send him first so that by the time they come, the little goat has eaten the grass to his heart s content. Q16. The goats proved that united we stand, divided we fall. Explain. Answer: This story teaches us that united we stand and divided we fall. The three goats made a pact that in order to cross the bridge they would say that the next goat was fatter than them. As Troll was greedy, he would fall into the trap. The third goat knew that onlyhe has the power to kill Troll. Hence, she went in the end to cross the bridge. He made it sure that his brothers had already reached on the other side of the mountain. So, when Troll tried to attack the goat, the third goat hit her and killed her by throwing her into the waterfall. Hence, this story proves that united we stand divided we fall. Had the goats not stayed with each other, the Troll would have eaten them all. Q17. Family always comes first. How does this story prove that? Answer- The Great Goat knew that he was the most powerful among all. He decided that he would cross the bridge in the end. All the three goats devised a plan that they would tell Troll that the next goat was the fattest. Knowledge Based Question Bank Class-3 (Page-6)

They knew that Troll was greedy so the little and the second goat would be able to cross the bridge without any problem and the third goat would kill Troll. Hence, this story proves Family always comes first. CHAPTER 10 Q18. What was the elephant trying to use? What is the correct word that should come here? Answer: The elephant is trying to use the telephone. However, the elephant has muffled the word here. Instead of elephone, it should be telephone. Q19. Why do you think the elephant wanted to use the telephone? Answer: The elephant may have wanted to talk to someone or he may be curious to look at the phone as he might be looking at it for the first time; that is why he must want to use the telephone. Q20. This poem is total imaginary. Elaborate the statement. Answer: The poem is indeed imaginary. This shows that an elephant is trying to talk through a phone. It is not at all possible. First of all, elephants live in either zoo or jungles. Elephants are not pet animals so they can t be kept in home and neither in jungles or in zoos they would get to use a telephone. It also shows that the elephant is confused as to which word should he use whether it is telephone or elephone. Now, elephants do not talk, hence an elephant saying elephone is highly imaginary. Hence, this poem is not real but it is completely imaginary. Q21. Why was the elephant afraid? Answer: The elephant was afraid because first of all he was entangled in the telephone wire and he wasn t able to free himself from it. Next, during all this, the elephant used confusing words as he didn t know which word was correct and which word would come here. So, he was afraid that the song he had recited was all wrong because of the wrong words spoken and recited. Q22. The poem is all about having fun and nothing else. Elaborate the statement. Answer: This poem is all about having fun. It has got no teaching value at all. This poem shows that an elephant is curious to look at the phone and in his curiosity his trunk had got entangled in it. The elephant is also shown as a confused animal as he uses wrong words. His words got muffled and he used them in wrong places with wrong pronunciation. So, the motive of this poem is to evoke the feelings of imagination and creativity among the readers as that one can use different kinds of words to make a poem interesting as well as humourous. CHAPTER 11 Q23. If Birbal was wisest of all ministers, was it necessary to have other ministers in the court? Answer- There is no doubt that Birbal was wisest of all the ministers and most of the time he only solved all the problems. But due to this, it did not mean that the other ministers were not important. Q24. Why did Birbal start mending shoes in the very first place? Answer: King Akbar wanted to know how many people in his kingdom were blind. So, King Akbar called Birbbal and asked for the same. Birbal knew that the question was irrelevant. Hence, in order to teach King Akbar a lesson, Birbal devised a plan in which he started mending shoes the next day. Q25. Do you think King Akbar s question was irrelevant? Why? Answer: Yes, King Akbar s question was irrelevant. If he wanted to know about the number of blinds in his kingdom, he should have asked someone to conduct a survey in which those people could be counted. King Akbar knew that Birbal was wisest of all hence, he thought that Birbal might know the number by heart, which was wrong on King Akbar s part. Q26. Do you think Birbal was right in putting King Akbar s name in the list? Why/Why not? Answer: Yes, Birbal was right in putting King Akbar s name on the list. The list was of people who are blind. Hence when even after having eyes and seeing what Birbal was doing, King Akbar asked the question as to Knowledge Based Question Bank Class-3 (Page-7)

what was he doing, it got confirmed that even King Akbar was blind hence his name had to come in that list. So, Birbal did the right thing. Q27. Do you think it is important for Akbar to ask meaningful questions? Answer- Yes, Akbar was a King. He should always ask meaningful questions from his ministers. He was not supposed to ask idiotic and irrelevant questions from his ministers and waste their time. Akbar wasted Birbal s time by asking him an irrelevant question. CHAPTER 12 Q28. It was his hard-work that made his mother say that he was the most worthy son. Explain the line. Answer: Yes, it was sheer hard-work of Mr. Pig that made his mother say that he was the most worthy son of hers. The little pig didn t lose heart when Rusty declined to walk any further. Answer:The moment Rusty realised that the cart was very heavy because it was full of vegetables, he started showing his bad temper. He didn t move an inch. The little pig whipped and coxed Rusty, but all in vain. However when the little pig had sold all the vegetables, Rusty came to the market place and gladly dragged the cart as it was no longer heavy. Q30. Mother Pig was fed up of the mischievous little pig. Elaborate. Answer: The other pig was mischievous. Even though his mother asked him to stay at home and learn his lesson, the little pig ran here and there and broke his brother s toys. He never listened to his mother and always troubled her. When she came back tired, he didn t even spare her then. The mother was so tired that she fell asleep on the chair itself. Rather than letting his mother take rest, the little pig took a long handkerchief and tied his mother to the chair. Suddenly the mother got up and saw all the mess that he had created in the house. The mother pig was so angry that she beat the pig with the thickest and heaviest birch for a long time. Q31. Mr Pig proves that you need dedication to do something. Explain the statement. Answer: The moment Rusty realised that the cart was heavy, he didn t move an inch. The little pig was getting late to go to the market place. He had to sell the vegetables. He tried to whip and coax Rusty but all in vain. Now, the little pig couldn t remain there standing all day. So, he started dragging the shafts full of vegetables to the market place. Hence, it was due to his dedication that the little pig was able to sell the vegetables. Knowledge Based Question Bank Class-3 (Page-8)
