CONSTRUCTION UPDATE WHAT S HAPPENED/HAPPENING: Dehumidification System is installed in church attic Replaced 70 year old boiler in the church New Sewer Lines are in place; water lines are relocated New Electrical/Gas lines installed in all 3 buildings Organ console is gone for refurbishing West reconciliation room remodeled to match east one Pews are gone for repairs, new kneelers & refinishing Everything is removed from the entire church North Grand Window is installed to match new windows Organ pipe chamber is completely shielded from dust Footings/foundations are almost complete for new build Clergy garage is completed; awaiting brick and shingles Rectory roof replacement & window caulking completed Marble furniture is moved to rebuild sanctuary Asbestos Abatement in sacristies and old choir area WHAT S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN RIGHT NOW Due to skyrocketing costs in construction materials as a result of the pandemic, there are several planned improvements that the Campus Growth Team has had to cut from our total campus project. 5 Give it all BackGospel Reflection from Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS, LPi op culture has given us a unique idea of the term P justice. Justice, we often think, is about taking. Taking what s owed. Taking revenge. Taking what we deserve. This worldview tends to make mincemeat of our Catholic social teachings. Seeking the good of the poor, a call to community and participation, solidarity on the face of it, in a society where everything must be earned and we are encouraged to hoard for ourselves whatever success we can achieve, these principles look a lot like highway robbery. But when you remember the presence of an omnipotent, allloving and allmerciful God, it turns our gunslinging sense of justice on its head. For how does justice inhabit the same universe as a God who is so quick to give and indeed to forgive? Well, very easily, when we remember Who exactly is the source of every good and perfect thing in this world. There is no law that cannot be traced back to the Word. And the Word saves our souls. Is that justice? No, that is a gift. It is the reckless, indulgent gift of a father whose love is greater than His anger. What is justice in the Biblical sense? The answer is simple. Look at your life. See the hours in your day? See your spouse, your kids, your grandkids? See the house they live in, the money in your wallet, the food in your fridge, the breath in your lungs? Calling it all your own, refusing to share any of it that s robbery. Giving it all back to the One who gave it to you that s justice. Moments of Grace + Prayer: A Retreat in Everyday Life Begins September 12 Pray on your own 20 minutes each day and meet oneonone with a spiritual companion one hour each week for four consecutive weeks. 8 Perpetual Eucharist Adoration 10 Things That Happen When You Go To Adoration #10 You fall in love Ultimately, you can t help this one! When you spend more time with an open heart in Adoration and just let Christ love you, then you ll fall in love, too. That love will define you and allow you to be yourself. I came that they may have life, life in all its fullness (John 10:10) What is Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration? There are so many good reasons to go to chapel to be with Jesus. We have covered 9 of them in previous issues of the bulletin: 1. You develop a sense of wonder and awe. 2. You experience peace in other areas of your life. 3. You begin to look outwardly. 4. You get bored sometimes. 5. But you become excited going to Adoration. 6. Grace enters your life. 7. You realize how fortunate you are. 8. You realize that God has a sense of humor. 9. You want to go to Confession more. 10. You fall in love. Hopefully, you were encouraged by reading the above articles during the past 9 weeks to continue participating in Adoration. If you are not currently participating, may you be encouraged to select an hour to pray with Jesus. At this time, we are somewhat limited to the hours available for Adoration. Adoration is held from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Thursday, and 8 am to 3 pm on Friday. The hospital staff places the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance before 8 am and returns the Blessed Sacrament to the tabernacle at the end of the Adoration time. Hopefully, soon we will be able to return to 24/7 Adoration as was done before the pandemic started. It is very easy to become a part of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Review the open hour list below to select an hour that will fit into your schedule. You may choose to be a substitute and would attend chapel if you are available when contacted. Diocesan Reflection 22 nd Sunday in Ordinary Time August 29 Call to Holiness. Sometimes law and custom can be so onerous, so heavy that we can lose focus on right behavior. That is part of the conversation today as we return to the Gospel of Mark. Observing traditions is good and right. But avoiding oppressing thoughts, words, and deeds is better. In the Second Reading, Saint James says: Be doers of the word and not hearers only. In short, be holy. What unholy words and deeds can I avoid? What holy words and deeds shall I do this week? Whom can I invite to holy behavior with me? August 29,

They are typically held on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm in the second floor All Saints room in the Parish Center. The next class will be: September 2. Pre Jordan class is required for each child you want to have baptized. You must call Deanna Harlan to register for the class: x217. BAPTISM OF BABIES If anyone asks, or if you yourself are wondering, a good age to baptize infants in the Catholic Church is anywhere from three weeks to three months old. This is why it is important to attend the Pre-Jordan session during the pregnancy. You are strongly encouraged to have your baby s baptism before 3 months old. We want to give our children the gift of Jesus and the promise of salvation in Jesus as soon as possible. However, please be assured that we will baptize your child whenever you bring him/her to us. Adult Catholic Refresher We are offering a series of sessions on the practices and fundamental teachings of the Catholic Church. These sessions are refresher courses for fully initiated Catholics who just need to dust off the cobwebs or gain a new, fresh understanding of why we do/ believe that. There is an inexhaustible list of possible topics so, we plan to offer them in 8 week segments, with a different pre-planned topic each week. 10 Heartland Community Chorus is a performing ensemble of singers, age 16 and over, which will soon begin its 9th season. Singers come from a many surrounding communities.
