3 Business Office Dineen Czar Executive Manager Laurie Scott Accountant The end of the fiscal year for the Diocese of Springfield is June 30 th and along with it comes the end of the annual Parish Tithing appeal (formerly ACSA ) as we know it. In its place the Diocese will now send a monthly invoice to each parish representing 10% of certain of our income accounts according to a monthly report that will be generated. With this new method of collection, we have been advised that beginning with the new fiscal year on July 1 st, any amounts that parishioners send directly to the Diocese intended to be credited towards our Parish Tithing will be considered a donation to the Diocese and will not be applied against our monthly invoiced amount. Please do not send any payments to Springfield that are meant to benefit St. Paul s tithing assessment. While you re certainly welcome to donate to the Diocese of Springfield directly, if desired, please know that the 10% amount that we will now send monthly to the Diocese represents our parish s collective tithing contribution, which supports Diocese in Springfield operations, functions, and programs. 4 St. Paul Trinity Hall Groundbreaking History was made last weekend at St. Paul Parish. Approximately 130 parishioners witnessed as ground was broken for the $5.5 million dollar addition of Trinity Hall and renovation of St. Paul Catholic Church. Trinity Hall is a 9,458 sq. ft. addition that will connect the church and parish life center, offering a grand and functional space for both worship and parish and school life activities, along with fellowship before and after Masses. Construction is scheduled to begin June 28th with a targeted completion date of April 28th, As the construction impacts the church, it will be closed from Aug. 16th until Dec. 20th. Liturgies will be celebrated in alternate locations as noted in Fr. Pat s Pen, in this bulletin. In his opening remarks, Fr. Pat Jakel, pastor of St. Paul Parish, thanked parishioners and others for their generous financial support and dedication that has brought this project, 6 years in the planning, to fruition. He noted the impact of inflation as, the present church was built in 1951 at a cost of $400,000+ and, today s project will be finished at a cost of $5.5+ million dollars. Fr. Pat thanked The Korte Company, Terry Zeisset/campaign and project chairperson, along with the campus team, committee and parish staff. And, finally but, most importantly, he thanked Jesus for being in the boat with us as we give glory and praise to God for giving success to the work of our hands. Fr. Piotr Kosk, St. Paul Parish Parochial Vicar, led the opening prayer. Todd Korte, president and CEO of The Korte Company, and St. Paul parishioner, shared the excitement of TKC at being selected as the Design Builder for the Trinity Hall project. He added that they, at The Korte Co. have enjoyed working with the St. Paul team and look forward to the continued partnership as we work through the unique challenges that lie ahead during the construction process. He told the crowd that TKC has a long history with St. Paul, starting with his father Ralph, as the company founder. Kevin Hemann, City of Highland Mayor, offered a timeline of he and his family s extensive history, past and present, with St. Paul Parish and, what a blessing it has been to all of them. He not only met his wife Louise at St. Paul High School but, he and his siblings, his children and grandchildren have received, and are still receiving all their Sacraments at St. Paul. He shared his hope that many other families will have the same experience and memories as he has. Finally, he pledged the complete support and assistance of the city of Highland. Terry Zeisset, Campaign & Campus team chair, thanked the team and all who had made sacrifices to help this project come together. He thanked Fr. Pat for his vision and, God for the grace He has bestowed on us as we build for His glory. June 27,

(John 14:27) The outward peace we can experience in Adoration (the quiet and the stillness) reaches much deeper. It leads to an inner peace that affects all areas of our lives. It doesn t mean everything in our life will be perfect and without suffering, but Christ s peace means that we know that the storms of life can t shake us. What is Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration? Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament has a long tradition in the church. Over the centuries, many religious orders have had prayer chapels open day and night. The devotion of 40 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration, which started in 1534, eventually developed into Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. In 1981, Pope John Paul initiated Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in the Vatican Chapel and asked that all parishes in the world do the same. 9 Bishop Paprocki watched the Father McGivney Griffins baseball team win their 1st Super Sectional title played at Lincoln Land College. The Griffins (317) would eventually end their season as RunnerUp at the State tournament held in Normal Illinois at the ISU campus.this was only the second Varsity season for the Griffins.
