I want to express my appreciation for all who agreed to participate in the process. Know that those not selected may be considered for the collaborative writing team to be named after the New Year. Kevin Sepe Pastor FORMING DISCIPLES IN MISSION WORKSHOP Forming Disciples in Mission is a oneday or twoevening session workshop in ParishBased Evangelizaon that we encourage all parishioners to aend. Through discussions, presentaon and prayer, this workshop is designed to help parcipants: Grow in understanding of the new evangelizaon. Embrace living as an intenonal disciple. Become comfortable in sharing your personal witness. Learn how to form disciples in your parish, and more. All staff, finance, and pastoral council members and those who are involved in the various parish ministries as well as all parishioners are asked to aend. The dates for these workshops will be forthcoming. CHRISTMAS FLOWER OFFERING Anyone wishing to help defray the cost of our Christmas Flowers will find envelopes at the entrance of the Church. Please feel free to include with your offering, the names of loved ones for whom you wish to pray. These names, along with our intentions will be remembered in the Masses during the Christmas season. 3 SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT CHURCH AND MASS ETIQUETTE GUIDELINES Since Father Mahew and I are new to the parish, we felt that this would be the perfect opportunity to offer our views on Church and Mass equee. Below are the guidelines we ask you all to follow: Eucharisc Fasng: Everyone is expected to fast from food one (1) hour prior to receiving Holy Communion. Timely Arrival: Arrival should be ten (10) minutes prior to the beginning of Mass. This will give you me to quietly reflect on the week s scripture readings. Departure: Departure from Mass is only aer the final blessing and giving sufficient me for thanksgiving to our Lord. This also gives the priests an opportunity to meet you and get to know you when they are at the back of the church. Cell Phones: Please remember that all cell phones must be muted or shut off upon entering the church. Hats: Men, remember, all hats must be removed once entering the church. Beverages: Coffee and/or beverages should not be brought into church. Note that it is inappropriate to chew gum in church. Rest Room: During Mass, all children should be accompanied by an Adult parcularly when using the restroom. ESPOUSAL RETREAT CENTER On December 7, Walter (Siipp) Conlan, SJ, a pastoral minister at Boston College, will speak about the Ignatian spirituality that underlies so much of what Pope Francis does. The talk is from 7:30 to 9:00pm, at the Espousal Retreat Center, 554 Lexington Street, Waltham which is conveniently located close to Routes 2 and 128 with plenty of free parking. SODALITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will meet in the parish hall on Tuesday, December 13, at 1:30pm for rosary and sodality prayers. 4 DECEMBER 4, 2016 GIVING TREE Our Giving Tree began this weekend, November 27. Your generous spirit is a credit to the parish Please take an ornament and buy ONE of the suggested gifts. You do not have to buy all three, they are suggestions. Some people do, but it is NOT necessary. ALSO. Your timely return of the gifts is appreciated and necessary. All gifts should be UNWRAPPED with the ornament firmly attached to each gift. Please do not wrap the gifts. This is done at My Brother s Keeper through their process. All GIFTS MUST BE RETURNED BY SUNDAY NOON, December 11. Our delivery to my Brother s Keeper is on Monday, December 12. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY Do you like to knit or crochet? Join us as we create blankets, lap robes, shawls, etc.; which are then blessed and given to those in need of comfort and support. Stop by for coffee and see if this is something you would enjoy doing. Next meeting is Wednesday, December 14 at 10:00am in St. Patrick Parish Center, 26R Chestnut Street. WORLDWIDE MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER Join us at the upcoming Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend at Miramar Retreat Center, Duxbury, MA on December 2 4. Any married couple that desires a richer, fuller life together deserves a Weekend. Worldwide Marriage Encounter is designed to deepen and enrich the joys a couple shares together, whether they have been married only a short time or many years. The mission of Worldwide Marriage Encounter is to proclaim the value of Marriage and Holy Orders in the church and in the world. MENS LISTENING TO JESUS The Men s Group meetings are postponed during the Holidays and will resume on January 12, 2017, on the second and fourth Thursdays in the Parish Office/School building. 5 DECEMBER 4, 2016 NATIONAL SHRINE OF LASALLETTE Looking to do our first of hopefully many more collaborative excursions on Saturday, December 17 following the 4:00pm Mass. Where: Attleboro National Shrine of LaSallette for their Christmas light spectacular. Over 10 acres of Christmas lights and decorations as well as a museum of nativity crèche scenes from all over the world When: December 17 depart St. Patrick lot at 5:15pm and return around 9:30pm. Coach bus WITH a bathroom would be our transportation. There is a small café there for food and snacks as well as a great gift shop. We would like to have families, individuals, couples, the old the young to join us. We ask for a small donation of $10 for an individual or $20 per family (4 or more). La Salette is nationally recognize for its Christmas Festival of lights, please consider joining us. Call the St. Patrick Office to sign up at Let us know how many in your party. Matthew EUCHARISTIC ADORATION All are welcome to Eucharistic Adoration at St. Patrick Parish twice every Friday. The first Adoration is after the 7:30am Mass lasting until 9:00am (ends at 8:30am if there is a funeral). The second Adoration is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Please come spend some time with our Lord every Friday. We are keeping up with technology! Our parish provides Online Giving as an electronic tool for contributions so you can give via the internet. Online Giving helps you maintain your giving even if you cannot be here at Mass. This also helps the parish streamline our cash flow, especially during bad weather or vacation times. WATERTOWN SENIOR CENTER Come join us at the Watertown Senior Center, 31 Marshall Street, Watertown on Wednesday, December 14 at 10:00am as Ernie Berardinelli shows us how to decorate a beautiful Boxwood Christmas tree for the holidays. It will make a beautiful addition to your decorations. No experience is needed! We will have all the supplies available for you to add your own personal touches to the design.
