Grant eternal life to those who you have called home to yourself. AMEN An Appreciative God During November, we should stop each day, not just Thanksgiving Day, to be grateful. We know God does not need our thanks or praise, but it should move us to a deeper relationship and understanding of His Power, Love and Glory. How often do you just thank God for life, for love, for any little thing that happened that day? Maybe think about using these words both to God and to neighbor. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO THANKS FOR MAKING THE WORLD BRIGHTER HEARTFELT APPRECIATION FOR YOUR DEDICATION AND HARDWORK THANKS FOR YOUR LOVE The History of Litchfield There are many families of Italian descent that are members of our church that descended from a small town in northern Italy Meldola. It is north of Florence and south of Venice and Padua. During the great migration from this area , over 800 people left the little town of Meldola and 535 listed Litchfield as their point of immigration. Why did they leave? The nationalization of Italy, economics, poor living condition, the decline of the silk industry and storms that hurt agriculture. Many came through chainmigration following family members and friends. One of the first was Francesco Fabbri who came in 1896 and thus other families arrived with his sponsorship and the chance of employment with his construction company. There were many opportunities here when it was the last stop on the Shepaug Railroad. The train station is still located on Russell Street and is the borough building and flower shop. Francesco Fabbri s business was across on West street in what is now the Yard and former Switzer Company. More to follow. CLASS AT MASS (held twice a month 1st and 3rd Sunday of month during 10:45 am Mass): Children ages 310 who attend will participate in religious activities and lessons and make friends. (Older kids are welcome to come and help out). Lessons will focus on themes like love, faith, friendship and family. All meals, beverages, dining, gratuities and flight home from Barcelona and round trip to and from NYC for $3,900. This will be a cabin and balcony on the 10th or 11th floor. Come get information at the Rectory. There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, November 13th at 6 pm in the basement. This will be a final opportunity for this trip. ANTHONY WREATH SALE By the Daughters of Isabella Pickup will be available the weekend of Nov 23/24 in the basement of St. Anthony s Litchfield Schools are again collecting fresh fruit, and vegetables and Thanksgiving Dinner items for their annual Thanksgiving baskets. All food will be distributed to Litchfield residents. Please bring your donation to mass on Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th. The food will be picked up on Monday, November 25th after 9 am by the students.
