2 P H J K L Kayla and I have been parishioners at HS for over five years now. We both came to Fargo for college, got jobs here and have stayed ever since. Fargo is halfway between our hometowns (she's from western ND and I'm from northern MN), so it made a lot of sense. We have four beautiful and healthy daughters (12, 9, 5 & 3) that keep us on our toes, and we've got #5 on the way! We are an active family and we keep busy with: Catholic School, Dance, Basketball, Family Movies, Playing Cards, Roller blading, bike riding, bonfires, boating and tripping to lake country in summer whenever possible, ice skating, & generally getting outdoors whenever possible!! That's the secret to enjoying life up here; don't let the cold keep you stuck indoors! Wool socks, hats, fleece bottoms and sweaters go a long way to making life better up here- the Norwegians have a philosophy of "Hygge" which loosely translates to "cozy". If you can feel warm and cozy, even outside, that's the best!! Kayla and I see God's work in our lives and our family all the time!! Three years ago, we both took a huge leap of faith when Kayla went back to college to obtain her Master's Degree in Nursing (NP) and I left a good career at an A&E firm in town to start my own firm with a couple of friends. We Joe, Kayla, Ava, Elise, Brielle & Jocelyn learned A LOT about Trusting in God for everything, and we are still learning! The Novena is a 9 day preparation starting Fri, May 14. The parish Mission Novena will run every night from 7 to 7:30pm except on Wed., May 19 th (6:30 to 7:45pm) and Sat., May 22 when the 4 PM vigil Mass will be our Novena. The Pentecost celebration will be Sun, May 23 from noon to 2 pm with a BBQ meal and games for the kids. The Novena will feature a different theme based on the gifts of the Holy Spirit (Knowledge, Wisdom, Piety, Counsel, Understanding, Fear of the Lord, Fortitude) and include music, teaching, and prayer. Note that on Wed., May 19 th, there will also be the normal 5:30pm Mass and Food & Fellowship at 6pm before the specially extended time of preparation for Pentecost. Dispensation to miss Mass due to Covid has ended Bishop Folda reinstated the Sunday Mass obligation on May 1, Several exceptions exist, for example, those who are recently exposed to Covid-19, those who are at high-risk, and those who have significant fear or anxiety of becoming ill by attending Mass. Prayer Teams on the 3rd Weekend of the Month Do you need prayers? The Lord has given all of us the gift of prayer and one of beautiful things about that gift is the ability to pray with and for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Whether it s healing you re seeking, something big you re facing in your life, or you just feel like you could use some prayers, no prayer is too big or too small for God. After all the weekend masses on May 15 & 16, prayer teams will be available in the back of the Church by the staircase. Just approach a team member or sit in the back pew and a team member will approach you. All graduating seniors and your families! Baccalaureate Mass is at 9am on Sunday, May 16. A Brunch for our graduating seniors and their families will follow Mass. Please RSVP by Monday, May 10, if you have not yet done so. American Heritage Girls Food Drive May AHG Troop ND0316 will be hosting a food drive for the Emergency Food Pantry. Bags will be available at the entrances to the church starting May 8. Please return the filled bags by May 16. Pioneers and Patriots from the Troop will be participating in a 24 hour Stand Against Homelessness from Noon May 15 through Noon May 16th and will be available to collect donations during those hours.
