In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of Section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely: 1. Short title and commencement. (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of One Hundred and Five Coins to mark the occasion of CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF KOMAGATA MARU INCIDENT Rules, 2014. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coins. The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF KOMAGATA MARU INCIDENT, namely: (i) One Hundred ; (ii) Five.

The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely:- Denomination Shape and outside Number of Metal composition of coin diameter serrations Circular 44 millimeters One Hundred Five Circular 23 millimeters 4. Design. The design of the coins shall be as under:- (i) ONE HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: 200 Quaternary Alloy Silver - 50 per cent. Copper - 40 per cent. Nickel - 05 per cent. Zinc - 05 per cent. 100 Nickel Brass Copper - 75 per cent. Zinc - 20 per cent. Nickel - 05 per cent. The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स यम व जयत inscribed below, flanked on the left upper periphery with the word भ रत in Devnagri script and on the right upper periphery with the word INDIA in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol ` and denominational value 100 in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the portrait of KOMAGATA MARU" ship in the centre, with inscription शत द मरण सव and "क म ग ट म स ग" in Devnagri script on top periphery and right lower periphery respectively. On the left upper periphery and lower periphery shall bear the inscription CENTENARY COMMEMORATION and "KOMAGATA MARU INCIDENT" in English respectively. The year s figure 1914-2014 shall be shown on right upper periphery in international numerals. (ii) FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स यम व जयत inscribed below, flanked on the left upper periphery with the word भ रत in Devnagri script and on the right upper periphery with the word INDIA in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol ` and denominational value 5 in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of the coin shall bear the portrait of KOMAGATA MARU" ship in the centre, with inscription शत द मरण सव and "क म ग ट म स ग" in Devnagri script on top periphery and right lower periphery respectively. The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF KOMAGATA MARU INCIDENT and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below: TABLE Denomination of Standard weight Remedy allowed the coin In composition In standard weight One Hundred Five 35 Grams 1/500 th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say the Silver content may vary from 498 to 502 per 1000. 6 Grams 1/100 th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say Copper could vary from 74 per cent. to 76 per cent. and Zinc from 19 per cent. to 21 per cent. and 1/200 th plus or minus for Nickel that is to say Nickel could vary from 4.5 per cent. to 5.5 per cent. 1/100 th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could be vary from 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams. 1/40 th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 gram to 6.15 gram.
