In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of Section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011(11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely: 1. Short title and commencement. (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of One Hundred Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to mark the Occasion of BIRTH CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF BEGUM AKHTAR Rules, 2014. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coins. The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of BIRTH CENTENARY OF BEGUM AKHTAR, namely: One Hundred Rupees; (ii) Five Rupees. नक वजन ध त स रचन अन त उपच र नक वजन एक स पए 35 च द 1/500व ज ड़ कर य घट कर अथ त च द त 1000 498 स 502 तक क अ तर ह सक ग प च पए 6 त ब और ज त क लए 1/100व क य य द अथ त त ब 74 तशत स 76 तशत तक क अ तर ह सकत ह और ज त 19 तशत स 21 तशत तक क अ तर ह सकत ह और नकल क लए 1/200व ज ड़ कर य घट कर अथ त नकल 4.5 तशत स 5.5 तशत तक क अ तर ह सकत ह 1/100 ज ड़ कर य घट कर अथ त वजन 34.65 स 35.35 तक क अ तर ह सकत ह 1/40व ज ड़ कर य घट कर अथ त वजन 5.85 स 6.15 तक क अ तर ह सकत ह

The coins of the denominations mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimension and composition, namely : Denomination of coin 4. Design. The design of the coins shall be as under : OBSERVE : ONE HUNDRED RUPEES The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स य व जयत inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word भ रत in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word INDIA in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol ` and denominational value 100 in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE : The face of coin shall bear the portrait of BEGUM AKHTAR in the centre, with inscription ब ग अ तर क ज शत in Devnagri script on upperperiphery and on the lower periphery shall bear the inscription BIRTH CENTENARY OF BEGUM AKHTAR in English, and the year s figure 1914-2014 shall be written below the portrait in international numerals. OBSERVE : (ii) FIVE RUPEES The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend स य व जयत inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word भ रत in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word INDIA in English, and it shall also bear the Rupee symbol ` and denominational value 5 in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of BIRTH CENTENARY OF BEGUM AKHTAR and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below: Denomination of coin One Hundred Rupees Standard weight TABLE Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight 1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say the Silver content may vary from 35 Grams 498 to 502 per 1000. Five Rupees 6 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say Copper could vary from 74 per cent to 76 per cent and Zinc from 19 per cent to 21 per cent and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel that is to say Nickel could vary from 4.5 per cent to 5.5 per cent. 1/100th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams. 1/40th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 grams to 6.15 grams.
