So we must stay awake as the gospel tell us, because we do not know the day nor the hour. How do we make sure that we will be ready when the Bridegroom comes? We do that by living our lives as though today is the day. Jesus makes it very clear what we must do. We must follow his one great commandment to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves, and my neighbor is anyone God places in my path. We must treat all people with unselfish love. We must be kind to the other; we must give of ourselves to others; we must treat all people with generosity and humility. If we do that then when the Bridegroom comes he will invite us to join him in the wedding feast. PASTORAL STAFF Rev. 5 ANOTHER PRAYER for ALL SOULS Love never disappears for death is a non-event. I have merely retired to the room next door. You and I are the same; what we were for each other, we still are. Speak to me as you always have, do not use a different tone, do not be sad. Continue to laugh at what made us laugh. Smile and think of me. Life means what it has always meant. The link is not severed. Why should I be out of your soul if I am out of your sight? I will wait for you; I am not here, but just on the other side of this path. You see, all is well. St. Augustine country in the military. VETERANS DAY Wednesday, November 11 th, is Veterans Day, a national holiday. Veterans Day commemorates the signing of the peace agreement that ended World War I on November 11, Whereas Memorial Day remembers all those who died in service of their country, Veterans Day remembers all who have serviced their The parish offices will be closed on Wednesday in observance of the holiday. St. MARTIN of TOURS A conscientious objector who wanted to be a monk; a monk who was maneuvered into being a bishop; a bishop who fought paganism as well as pleaded for mercy to heretics such was the 4 th century saint, Martin of Tours. Martin s worry about cooperation with evil reminds us that almost nothing is either all black or all white. The saints are not creatures of another world: They face the same perplexing decisions that we do. Any decision of conscience always involves some risk. A hyper-cautious withdrawal from all perplexing situations is not the virtue of prudence; it is in fact, a bad decision, for not to decide is to decide.
