Glenmark launches new coronavirus medicine at 103 per tablet ग ल नम र क न 103 र पय प रत ट बल ट पर नई क र न व यरस दव ल न च क - Livemint

Drug firm Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has launched antiviral drug Favipiravir, under the brand name FabiFlu, for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 patients. Price at 103 per tablet, the prescription-based drug will be available as a 200 mg tablet at an MRP of 3,500 for a strip of 34 tablets. The prescribed first-day dose is 18 tablets nine each in the morning and evening. From the second day, it will be four each twice daily. The treatment can last 14 days. Since it is an oral medicine, the patient can stay at home. There are three types of eclipses. Total solar eclipse: happens when the sun, moon and Earth are in a direct line. The dark silhouette of the Moon completely covers the intense bright light of the Sun. Only the much fainter solar corona is visible during a total eclipse which is known as a Totality. Partial solar eclipse: happens when the shadow of the moon appears on a small part of the sun. Annular solar eclipse: which happens when the moon is farthest from the Earth, which is why it seems smaller. In this type of an eclipse, the moon does not block the sun completely, but looks like a dark disk on top of a larger sun-colored disk forming a ring of fire. 22

Scientists have finally resolved the mystery behind the 66-million-year-old fossil egg found in Antarctica s Seymour Island. Some estimates also suggest its age to be 68- million-years. The fossil, which looks like a deflated American football, was kept in a Chilean museum and was nicknamed The Thing. After much research and analysis, scientists have said that the egg belongs to an extinct giant sea lizard or snake that lived alongside the dinosaurs. According to the researchers, the millions year old fossil egg, measuring 29 cm by 20 cm (8 inches by 11 inches), is the second-largest egg in the world. Assam Chief Minister ordered the arrest of a Kolkatabased political commentator, Garga Chatterjee, who had described Chaolung Sukapha as a Chinese invader. Chaolung Sukapha was a 13th-century ruler who founded the Ahom kingdom that ruled Assam for six centuries. Contemporary scholars trace his roots to Burma. Sukapha was a leader of the Ahoms. He reached Brahmaputra valley in Assam from upper Burma in the 13th century with around 9,000 followers. In 1235, Sukapha and his people settled in Charaideo in upper Assam after wandering about for years, defeating those who protested his advance, and temporarily staying at different locations. Recently, the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG) has observed that the recent series of tremors in the National Capital Region-Delhi (Delhi- NCR) are not unusual and are indicative of strain energy build up in the region. An earthquake cannot be predicted and the tremors cannot be described as warnings for a big event but the possibility of a stronger and life threatening earthquake cannot be ruled out. The vulnerability of a region can be understood from the past seismicity, calculation of strain budget, mapping of active faults etc. Sometimes, a vulnerable zone remains quiet, experiences small magnitude earthquakes that do not indicate any bigger earthquake or receives a sudden jolt by a big earthquake without any call. Reasons for Earthquakes in Delhi-NCR Release of Energy: Release of strain energy through the weak zones or faults which accumulates as a result of northward movement of Indian plate and its collision with the Eurasian plate. Movement of Plates: The Himalayan seismic belt is the region where the Indian plate collided with the Eurasian plate and under-thrusted beneath the Himalayan wedge. Proximity to Himalayas: Delhi-NCR is not very far from the entire north-west and north-east Himalayan belt lies in the highest seismic potential zone V and IV, where major to great earthquakes can take place. 48

Seismic Zones in India There are four seismic zones (II, III, IV, and V) in India based on scientific inputs relating to seismicity, earthquakes occurred in the past and tectonic setup of the region. Previously, earthquake zones were divided into five zones with respect to the severity of the earthquakes but the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) grouped the country into four seismic zones by unifying the first two zones. BIS is the official agency for publishing the seismic hazard maps and codes. 49

Seismic Zones in India Seismic Zone II: Area with minor damage earthquakes corresponding to intensities V to VI of MM scale (MM-Modified Mercalli Intensity scale). Seismic Zone III: Moderate damage corresponding to intensity VII of MM scale. Seismic Zone IV: Major damage corresponding to intensity VII and higher of MM scale. Seismic Zone V: Area determined by pro seismically of certain major fault systems and is seismically the most active region. Earthquake zone V is the most vulnerable to earthquakes, where historically some of the country s most powerful shocks have occurred. 50 Earthquakes with magnitudes in excess of 7.0 have occured in these areas, and have had intensities higher than IX.
