Concept: Nouns -Gender & Listening Activity I will be able to: identify genders differentiate between types of genders use appropriate masculine and feminine nouns to name people use the masculine, feminine, neuter nouns and common genders in sentences Value Points: There are four types of Genders. Masculine Gender: The names of all male persons or animals are said to be of the Masculine Gender. Example: man, actor, uncle, hero, king, lion etc. Feminine Gender: The names of all female persons or animals are said to be of the Feminine Gender. Example: woman, aunt, daughter, actress, queen, lioness etc. Common Gender: A noun denotes either a male or a female is called Common Gender. Example: parents, teacher, nurse, doctor, bird, students etc Neuter Gender: Things without life cannot be distinguished either as male or female; hence the names of such things are said to be of the Neuter Gender. Social Science Lesson- Our Rights and Duties Long Answer Questions: (a)democracy means that a country s government is elected by its people. It means the government of the people, by the people and for the people. Republic means a country that is governed by elected representatives of the people. (b) Our Constitution has laid down six Fundamental Rights for all its citizens. These rights have been protected by the courts and therefore, the Government cannot deny them. Right to equality; Right to freedom and Right to freedom of religion are some of the Fundamental Rights. (c) Some of the Directive Principles which have been listed in our Constitution are: (i) Providing proper living conditions to the people (ii) Preventing the rich from exploiting the poor (iii) Ensuring education of children (iv) Providing employment opportunities to the people and (v) Protecting the interests of people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Schedules Tribes and Other Backward Classes. Beyond the text (HOTS Question): (a) Courts play a significant role in protecting the fundamental rights of citizens. They punish anyone who violates the fundamental rights of any citizen thus making sure that everyone can enjoy their rights.
