To Understand Place Value The place value of a digit depends upon the place occupied by the digit in a number and tells if it is in the Ones, Tens, or Hundreds place. Ones have the smallest place value. Look at the place value chart given below: 145 1 Hundreds (H) 4 Tens(T) 5 Ones(O) or or or 100 4o 5 This table shows three places: ones place, tens place and hundreds place. We can arrange 3 digit numbers in this place value table. The entry of the number 145 is shown below: 1is at the hundreds place, so place value of 1 is 1 hundreds = 100 4 is at the tens place, so the place value of 4 is 4 tens = 40 5 is at the ones place, so the place value of 5 is 5 ones = 5 Now we may read it as One Hundred forty five =145. *Match deer with their homes: 100 8 90 Hundreds Home Tens Home Ones Home And I am number- H T O Worksheet-1
